"Das kahle Herz - Waldmenschen in Thüringen" shows the challenges facing our forests due to drought, bark beetles and environmental disasters. Global warming is not solely responsible for the decline of the forests. A forestry policy that has been in place for around 300 years, which favours monocultures, and the increasing demand for wood are also contributing to the fact that the forest ecosystem is no longer functioning. The forest can do without humans - but humans cannot do without the forest.
"The Bare Heart" is more than just a documentary about the effects of climate change on forestry. The film shows people who are facing up to the changes, preserving their love of nature and at the same time looking for new ways to secure the future of the forest. It invites the audience to reflect on their own contribution to preserving our environment and shows how individuals can make a significant difference.
It communicates the need for forest conversion and inspires forest owners and the general public to actively participate in the preservation and further development of our forests. It calls on people to take responsibility for the environment and work together to find solutions to the challenges of the 21st century.
